COVID-19/ Coronavirus Update

We appreciate the unsettling nature and disruption COVID-19 is creating. Click here to read our March 19, 2020 Bulletin.

Who We Are

The Berkley Canada Accident, Health and Travel team likes to do things differently. It is our team’s 20+ years of experience in insurance, working in a variety of roles such as broker, risk manager, claims, sales and product development, coupled with an entrepreneurial spirit that enables us to think outside the box and ensure we are not burdened with complex infrastructure and slow decision making.

We understand the challenges brokers face on a day-to-day basis. Through customized, robust and competitively priced products we help distributors grow their business. At Berkley, we have the flexibility to offer products through new channels and integrate with distributors’ systems.

Since inception, Berkley Accident, Health & Travel has developed and launched customized insurance programs within 60 days and is one of the few insurance providers that can customize products for each distribution partner.

Strategy

Berkley Canada focuses on establishing strategic relationships with large insurance partners who can provide a significant portfolio. Berkley Canada offers underwriting capability for distributors with their own front-end sales and fulfillment functionality, whether for individual policy sales, group or affinity business or employee benefit plans. This allows our distribution partners to control and manage their own processes. We make it easy to do business with us.

Alternatively, we can offer a white label sales solution through our Third Party Administrators’ call centres or a strategic partnership with Berkley Canada distributors who specialize in travel insurance.

While Berkley Canada has standard insurance products, we are able to provide customized coverage and pricing to meet the needs of our distribution partners.

Accident & Health Products

Our Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) Plans offer an affordable supplement to employee/member benefit plans and pay a lump sum in case of accidental death, paralysis or accidental loss of limbs, vision or speech. Individual and family plan options available. Coverage options include Business Travel, Voluntary, Occupational, Sports and Volunteers programs.

AD&D 24 Hour Plus plans can be customized to include any combination of: Permanent and Total Disability, Hospital Cash, Accidental Paramedical/Dental expenses, Fractures, Burn benefits and more to meet your and your client’s needs.

Group Emergency Travel Medical Plan provides coverage for employees/members and their families travelling outside their province or territory of residence anywhere in the world. We offer the option to include trip cancellation, trip interruption, baggage and accidental death and dismemberment coverage. Additional 24 hour AD&D is available.

Excess Claims Insurance (Stop Loss) sold in conjunction with our Group Travel product Stop Loss protects employers that self-fund their employee group extended health benefits with a layer of protection against unexpectedly high extended health or drug claims either for individual employees or on an aggregate basis.

The Hospital Cash plan pays a daily benefit to employees/members and their families for periods of hospitalization of 3 days or more, due to sickness or injury, to a maximum of 120 days to cover some out-of-pocket expenses from hospitalization.

Fraud Alert

Berkley Canada has been made aware that at least one unauthorized individual is falsely representing Berkley Insurance Company and selling invalid travel insurance policies, including International Student and Visitors to Canada emergency medical insurance. We believe that the sale of these fraudulent policies is limited to a small number of sales by an unlicensed, unaffiliated individual in Montreal, Quebec, however we are uncertain if the sale of these policies extend beyond the Quebec border.

If you purchased your policy from an agent unfamiliar to you and you paid cash for the policy, or if you have any reason to believe that your policy documentation is not valid, we advise you to email travel@berkleycanada.com to verify your coverage.

We greatly value our brokers, agents and policyholders and want to reassure you that we are taking all legal remedies available to us to prevent fraudulent activity.
